Budapest International Airport is one of Hungary’s premiere travel destinations. It’s also a gateway to Europe, with flights to more than 25 countries. And with so many travelers coming through its gates each year, the airport has had to adapt and evolve to stay ahead of the curve. From new terminals and Airlines to the ever-growing number of amenities, here are four ways Budapest International Airport has shaped up over the years.

The Facilities at Budapest Airport

When you land at Budapest International Airport, you'll be welcomed by modern facilities that make your stay in Hungary easy and comfortable. The airport has three terminals with a total of more than 1 million square feet (93,000 square meters) of passenger terminal space. You'll find all the amenities you need to get off the ground and start exploring Hungary.

The airport has a wide variety of shops and restaurants, as well as several banks with international ATMs. If you need to stock up on supplies before your trip, the duty-free shop offers a range of items, including wine and spirits.

If you're looking for a place to rest your head after all that travel, check out one of the airport's many guestrooms. Each is equipped with everything you need, including TV, refrigerator, and bathroom amenities. In case you get lost in the crowds or want some peace and quiet, there are also exclusive business zones where you can find plenty of retail options.

And if all that air travel hasn't left you feeling refreshed and invigorated, take advantage of one of the airport's pools or whirlpools—they're perfect way to end your day after a long journey.

How to Get to and From the Airport

If you're flying into Budapest International Airport, it's worth getting a taxi. Taxis are relatively cheap and will take you to most destinations in Budapest. Some buses connect the airport with the city center, but they can get very crowded and take a long time to get there. If you want to save money, consider taking the train instead. Trains regularly run between the airport and central Budapest and cost around €7.
