Does RuneScape worth your time in 2022?

It's important to note that this will not be Old School RuneScape, a version that's based off RuneScape Gold a build that was made in 2007. The game has been accessible in iOS and Android from 2018. It's the complete RuneScape that Jagex has been continuously in the last 20 years.

There's a huge demand for RuneScape on iOS as well as Android. It has over 1.8 million players pre-registered for the versions that have an interface for mobile users that is mobile-friendly, with modernized menus, icons text and textures. Combat mechanics are also adjusted for iOS as well as Android.

The company has filed two trademarks in UK and in the US, one to "OSRS Gold" and the second that is for "RS Gold" and noting that the company has registered the use of the terms as words. This could prevent websites that are not affiliated with the company from being able to promote their sale of RS Gold.

A quick Google search for either of these terms yields hundreds of websites, many of them with one of the terms listed in their URLs. They offer the currency of RuneScape that can be exchanged for real money. The announcement came on 14 October, that Jagex was putting an end in "real-world trade". In a blog post on its blog "The RuneScape Team" clarified that "gold purchased through RWT transactions in the real world is a concern in any online game that has a trading currency."

Jagex says it will be sending "messages to players we've identified that are engaged in"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who was involved, we want to be clear - this is your sole message, and the only one," the company added.

In addition, the announcement was regarding the games PvP feature, Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes that would include the stricter enforcement of the game's code-of-conduct, in order to encourage more positive play. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a source of anger for this toxic behaviour".

However, prior to that what the publisher calls "short-term measures" are in place "until our development teams are able to deliver a major update that fully replaces Duel Arena in Cheap RS Gold the coming year."
