I started law school at age 40. I had already had a successful career in Human Resources. By the time I was an executive I was bored with the whole thing and wanted to do something different and challenging. I kept my "day job" and went to law school 4 nights a week for 4 years. It was damn hard! I would do it again in a heart beat. I loved being a lawyer. I made a real difference in other people, lives I traded boredom for excitement, confidence for constant fear of the unknown, and the pure pleasure of constantly learning new things.

Older students do encounter unique problems. My thinking was a bit slower than the kids around me, it took a while to make new friends to hang with, I went from being the smartest, most knowledgeable person in the room to being quite ordinary in a group of smart people. And yet, I finished second in my class. My advice? Go for it!
