MAKE CRISPY OVEN BAKED STEAK FRIES WITH THESE TIPS

1) Soak the sliced potatoes for 30 minutes or more in a dish of water. Drain and rinse them after that. This helps to get rid of some of the starch in the potatoes.

2) Using a dish towel or paper towels, thoroughly dry the potatoes.

3) Season with our recipe's secret ingredient! Believe it or not, a small amount of sugar in the spice mix aids in the caramelization of the potatoes in the oven, resulting in a delightful flavor. Season these fries thoroughly both before and after they go into the oven (to taste).

4) Make sure the potato wedges don't touch or overlap each other so they can crisp up evenly on all sides. Halfway through the cooking time, turn them. I've discovered that placing parchment paper below makes flipping and cleaning up a lot simpler.

INGREDIENTS

4 medium russet potatoes, washed and scrubbed (no need to peel them)
avocado oil, 1–2 teaspoons (sub: olive oil)
1 teaspoon of salt
a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons sugar (adding this makes a huge difference in the flavor!)
1 teaspoon powdered garlic
