Good system planning can ensure that the information system can support the organization's long-term strategic goals, develop and use the organization's information resources and information systems more effectively, and enable the construction of information systems under unified organizational goals, development strategies, and an effective environment.
The following are the main components of system planning: developing the overall scheme of the management information system, analyzing the current resource situation, conducting a feasibility study of the system, and specific development planning.
Strategic Set Transformation (SST), Business System Planning (BSP), Critical Success Factors (CSF), Business Information Analysis and Integration Technology (BIAIT), Output/Method Analysis (E/MA), and Return on Investment are some of the methods commonly used in MIS planning (ROI).
The planning of MIS should be done with the goal of improving the enterprise's management level and making radical changes to the existing system so that the enterprise's business processes can be fundamentally changed with the help of information systems. This necessitates business process redesign and reengineering to reduce the unreasonable parts of the business process and eliminate redundant steps, allowing the enterprise to respond to market and customer changes in a timely manner.
